APPEARANCE

It is bright and has a ruby colour with purple reflections yet, clear and without visual defects.

Deep intensity. Glyceric and slow tear.

NOSE

Clean, medium intensity.

Slight notes of black fruit and also nail polish (acetone), painting.

PALATE

Medium+ acidity, high tannins, high alcohol, dry and medium+ astringency, some green- rough tannins.

Medium body. Medium intensity, flavours medium (green berries), oak (21 months), dark cocoa 99%, dark cherry, but very short in flavours.

The wine is medium finish (almost short), after 5 years it is still not integrated and balanced. 

CONCLUSION

I think that this Tintorera (Alicante Bouschet x Grenache) is some diluted and short, and the oak is over the fruit, green in this wine (soft toast or green tannins).

After 5 years, I would hope a bit more of complexity, some oak flavours (tertiaries flavours), development, and more integration between fruit and tannins from oak, which are very astringents.

I have not see an over-rippen grape like says the label, if not under-ripe grape.

Do we need to wait?

Vino de producción limitada (en torno a 6.000 botellas) que solo se elabora en algunas añadas. Sin duda, una joya de coleccionista, ya que son pocos los tintos que nacen en viñedos del Bierzo elaborados única y exclusivamente con la minoritaria Garnacha tintorera. La Prohibición se presenta profundo, complejo y misterioso, un vino que necesita jarrearse para que afloren con intensidad su fruta negra y su perfil terciario con recuerdos a maderas nobles, cacaos, cafetales y tinta china. Taninos dulces y estructura es su presentación en boca.
