Busy April in Valencia!
It´s a busy month for wine and food enthusiasts in Valencia this April.
Las Añadas de España, Valencias big gourmet shop near the Estacion del Norte has a couple of promotions running. Firstly `Taste the City´ involves touring a number of bars and restaurants in the centre, all within walking distance of each other. The idea is to drink a glass of wine in each and to get a card stamped. At the end those who have completed five tastings will receive 2 bottles of Dis-tinto 2008 from Bodegas Enguera and those who manage the herculean challenge of drinking ten tastings will receive a further 6 bottles of their Megala 2007 (all free!). This is a good way to tour the centre and explore the odd bar to experience Valencia and to maybe try a few tapas as well. Secondly Las Añadas is holding occasional almuerzos ( or breakfasts) on some Tuesday mornings. For 5€ between 10.30 and 12.00 a plate of e.g. embutidos and cold meats together with a glass of wine, water and coffee is available. Details are on the board in their window. Vino Valencia the social networking group also recommences its monthly activities with a tasting of three Valencian wines, each served with a tapa for just 10€. This month the date is the 21st from 8pm in Alter Ego on Canovas/Conde de Altea. Booking through www.vino-valencia.com .
Tuesday 6 April sees a tasting for wine-bloggers organised by Catavino.es with the CRDO Utiel-Requena in the latters HQ, the Bodega Redonda in Utiel . Attendance by invitation.
Last but certainly not least PROAVA is now promoting the 22nd Wine and Food Fair held annually in the dry riverbed in Valencia. This runs from the 14-18th and is the wine and food fair to visit with many exhibitors taking the opportunity to promote new wines to the market. Entry is usually 10€ and guarantees at least 5 samples of food and five glasses of wine! More details from www.proava.org
