[caption id="attachment_1293" align="aligncenter" width="150" caption="Selection of Reds from the Tasting."][/caption]   This year seems to have gone very quickly, positively flying by leaving a host of part remembered events and some never to be forgotten. After a couple of weeks rest it seemed only fair to stimulate the sense buds again at what will have been the last tasting of the year at Las Añadas de España. From now on everything is geared to the Christmas campaign! 16 wines from their extensive range and currently `on offer´ were available to taste, wines from the Valencian Community, Rioja, Penedes, Ribera del Duero, Navarra and even Argentina. I started with Inmacula 2010, a pure Viognier from DO Navarra. Pale yellow in colour, clean and bright with long slow legs the nose is very expressive, a positive tropical fruit salad with mango, ogen melon, papaya, passion fruit and pineapple. In the mouth this cocktail is maintained, a wine with lovely balance, fresh acidity and a good long finish. Best on its own this one! Second wine was Contino Fermentado en Barrica 2009, a DO Rioja and blend of Viura, Malvasia and Garnacha Blanca. 5-6 months of crianza in French oak gives this wine much more colour, straw to gold with green flashes with long legs, on the nose floral, very elegant and in the mouth full, well structured, fresh and a long dry finish. Next we tasted the Marquis de Riscal Finca Montico, a DO Rueda from Verdejo also fermented in the barrel. Much greener in colour with gold flashes, clean , bright and with long legs. On the nose full of the flavours of a patisserie, toasts, custards and hints of tropical fruits as well. Very well structured in the mouth, very fresh acidity and a long finish.....very nice. One Rosado, the Quinta Clarisa 2010 Belondrade just a vino de tierra from Castilla y Leon. 100 Tinto Fino and with a touch of crianza this is a real mouthful! In the glass ruby red with copper hues, long quick running legs, clean and very bright. On the nose the inevitable strawberries and cream, rich. In the mouth red fruits, pomegranate, elegant, creamy and voluptuous, with a surprisingly  long dry finish. Unexpected quality! First wine from DO Penedes for a while, the Castell de Remei Gotim Bru Tinto from 2008 is a blend of Tempranillo, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Garnacha with ten months crianza in new American oak. Cherry red, medium density with long legs, bright. On the nose hints of the crianza, wood fruits, particularly blackberry, with hints of spice, nutmeg. In the mouth much more cherry jam, fresh fig and that spice again. Good finish. Guest foreign wine was the Argentinian Alamos Malbec 2010 with at least nine months crianza in both French and American oak. Deep black cherry with very long legs this wine oozed promise! On the nose it hinted even further at what was to come, beautiful soft cherry, black fruits and floral, violets. In the mouth a real pleasure concentrated cassis, the wine is full with a long fruity finish. Very easy to drink and excellent. Good value at 7.45€ a bottle currently! First of the Bobals on offer was not from Requena but a DO Manchuela, the Casilla 2007 has eleven months in French oak. A medium to full density dark cherry red with long slow legs. On the nose wow! ...very intense nose, lots of boiled sweets and in the mouth wonderful....full bodied, spicy, mature fruit, vanilla, and a very long finish, predominantly of black fruits. Quite pricy though at nearly 10€ a bottle. Wine number eight was from DO Rioja, Señorio P Peciña 2005 Crianza and a blend of 95% Tempranill0 with the salt and pepper addition of graciano and Garnacha. Medium to full density, cherry red with long legs, on the nose oaky, vanilla and tobacco. In the mouth smooth tannins, balanced, nice structure and black fruit finish and aftertaste. Another easy drinker. Eclipse 2007 Ladron de Lunas 2007 is evolving at last. DO Utiel-Requena and a blend of Garnacha and Tempranillo with six months in French oak. Intense deep cherry with violet flashes and with long legs. Very spicy complex nose with clove, cinnamon and vanilla whilst in the mouth opening out at last, the tannins smoother, full bodied, mature fruit and a long finish. Nice! Into double figures with Gran Albina Reserva 2004 DO Rioja and a blend of Tempranillo, Mazuelo and  Graciano with thirty months in American Oak. Terracotta red,  long legs, medium to full density. On the nose not unexpectedly dominated by leather, coffee and oak. In the mouth meaty, tannic but smooth, good body and a long dry finish. Old style Rioja. Pago de Los  Capellanes 2008 Crianza from DO Ribera del Duero is 90%  Tinto Fino with Cabernet Sauvignon and twelve months crianza in French oak. Cherry red with long legs, deep. Intense nose, black fruits of the forest, and in the mouth quite hard, tannic with a long finish. Oldest wine was the 2004 Imperial Reserva DO Rioja. This is a blend of 85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano and 5% Mazuelo. with two years ageing in French and American oak. Ruby red, very bright, long slow legs. On the nose quite soft, mature fruit, and in the mouth round, voluptuous, silky, with vanilla and cream. A very nice wine and just a touch under 18€. Vicente Gandia´s Generacion 1 Reserva de Autor from DO Utiel Requena was not out of place towards the top of the tasting. 70% Bobal, with 15% each of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah and twelve months in French and American oak. Intense cherry red with very long legs, on the nose floral, fruity with red fruits of the forest. In the mouth round, full, very well balanced, integrated tannins and alcohol and a good long fruity finish. Not tasted for a year or so and a pleasant return! Pino 2009 is another DO Manchuelo Bobal this time with fermentation in wooden cubes or `tinos´which are open to the air followed by crianza in larger 300 and 500 litre barrels. From a single parcel of vines, a nice deep chery red with long glycerinous legs, on the nose intense, complex, fruity nose with spice. In the mouth round, elegant and fine with a long finish and a hint of minerality. Worth 18€ a bottle? I think not. Penultimate wine was the Castaño Cisca 2006, a table wine from 100% Monastrell with 14 months crianza in new French and American oak. Intense, cherry red, high density wine with an intense floral nose, violets and blueberry and very mature fruit. In the mouth explosive fruit, balanced, expressive, and floral with a wonderful finish.....and worth every cent of the 24.90€ asking price! So finally we reached the Cenit 2005, another vino de tierra from Castilla y Leon and at 28.90€ the most expensive wine in the tasting. 100% Tinto Fino with crianza in new French oak. Plum red, deep, long slow legs and quite bright. On the nose, wood, spicy black fruit, and in the mouth rich, well balanced, full bodied with a hint of sweetness, smooth tannins, elegant very long finish with hints of a mineral edge. Lovely. The year has seen some good tastings at Las Añadas and the move from almuerzos to Gastrolunches was a nice touch. Sadly I didn´t get there as often as I would have liked but I hope next year to participate in more activities and look forward to more innovations.
