1a Mostra de Vins de Moscatell i vins Dolços de D.O. Valencià
With St Valentines day over the weekend, PROAVA the Valencian food and agriculture promotions organisation, together with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the D.O. Valencia have decided to mount a tasting of Muscatel based wines and the sweet red wines from across the community.
Valencias Muscatels, the sweet reds ( vinos dulces ) which so well accompany cheese and fruit and the Mistelas and the Vinos de Licor cover a whole range of traditional production methods including those stopped fermenting by adding alcohol to fully fermented wines as well as a range of styles from fresh aromatic dry whites to full sticky golden wines. Nor confusingly are they only made in the Muscatel sub-zone of Valencia around Turis, Montroi, Chiva and Cheste. Wines from all categories are made as well in D.O.Alicante, the Valencian sub-zones of Valentino taking in LLiria and Pedralba as well as the Serranos and D.O. Utiel -Requena.. Wines from all these areas will be available to taste!
Under the slogan `For a sweeter love gift a (bottle of ) Moscatel to the one you love most! ´ the tastings will be held in the H.Q. of the C.R.D.O. in Calle Quart 22 Bajo. This is between the Torres de Quart and the Plaza de Virgen in Valencias old centre. The tastings which are free to enter commence 18.00 on Friday 12th, 11.00-14.30 and 18.00-22.00 on Saturday 13th and between 11.00 and 14.00 on Sunday 14th, St Valentines day. Tasting tickets will cost 3€ a ticket which includes three wines and a free tasting glass.
