ORIGEN

Grapes come from the best and highest lying vineyard in the upper Maipo Valley, on the very foot hills of the Andes mountains. The site provides an ample temperature delta between day and night, which allows red grapes to develop great colour, soft tannins, varietal aromas and full ripeness. Warm summer and really mild fall contributes to a complete and optimum ripening period. The fruit develops rich aromas, great structure, soft elegant tannins that are a full expression of this classic Chilean terroir.

HARVEST

Handpick. Cabernet Franc 25th to 28th March; Cabernet Sauvignon 3rd to 10th April. .

VINIFICATION

Bunches were handpicked and carefully selected. Fermentation in open top tanks where the skins were carefully and manually handled, achieving gentle and complete extraction. Fermentation temperature is kept between 24°C and 28° C. Then the wine remained in a long post-fermentation maceration for 21 days. The wine underwent 18 months oak ageing in 100% French oak casks.

 

TASTING BY Javier Azcona

Appearance: Clear, medium intensity, red purple colour, brightly, uncutuous with fast tears.

Nose: Medium to medium minus intensity, low aromas, earthy, cranberry, forest, oaky.

The wine is clean.

Palate: off-dry, medium+ alcohol, soft tannins medium+, medium acidity.

Medium intensity, noticeable Cabernet Franc, animal, earthy, wetty, black cherry, black liquorice, red cherry. Creamy notes (clarification – Albumen).

Medium volume, good body medium to full.

Medium+ finish with cocoa hints and a minty wine.

 

24 hours.-

Very intense in my mouth. Palate fine, high alcohol, medium acidity, medium+ tannins but medium soft. The wine is dry today. Medium + body. MInty, strawberry, red cherry, liquor, liquorice. Hints of flowers (violet), some notes from terroir (earthy, irony).

Medium+ finish.

 

CONCLUSIONS

A very good quality wine, assessing integration with all the structural compounds quite good placed, alcohol integrated, medium+ intensity and long fine finish, gives complexity in flavours from -Cabs-, overall definition of CF, perfect skin aromas, earthy notes, irony and body-tannins impressive. Potential for ageing, you can drink now, but I would wait, because need concentrated alcohol and tannins, but the acidity is very well. We will continue assessing in advanced.
