Contino Vina del Olivo
Re: Contino Vina del Olivo
Ver mensaje de RayQHi everybody here:
I’ve tasted Contino Viña del Olivo 2000 a year ago (+/-) and I can say definetely that it’s the best Rioja i’ve ever tasted. No discussion!. After that i bought the 2003 vintage and, beside Jesus’ words I hope it will be great anyway.
Just taste it!
Re: Contino Vina del Olivo
Ver mensaje de RayQI think I haven’t spend yet more than 45€ on a bottle of wine, but I’ll do it with Olivo in 2005. I tasted it at the Peñin presentation and I loved it. One of the best spanish wines, for me by far, I have ever tried, and just with a 2 digits price. And Contino Graciano another personal favorite. Big elegant wines.

Ver mensaje de OlafHi Olaf :))
Recently I’ve got a bottle of Graciano 2004, i’ve heard wonders about it. You recommend a date to open it? What do you think?.
See you in others places :)))
Bye
Re: Contino Vina del Olivo
Ver mensaje de CarlosGonzalezI would wait at least a couple of years before opening it. I don’t have many experience with them, but those gracianos from Chus have very good acidity and nice tannins, I guess they will age well. In fact now I think the wine is a bit complicated.
I also tried an interesting white experiment form Jesus Madrazo. I liked it, fresh, not oaky at all and with an elegant palate. (I can’t remember the details about the wine, I wrote them but at some point I lost my notebook somewhere)
Christmas Wine
Ver mensaje de CarlosGonzalezWell I have rarely seen such unaminity !
Looks like that special bottle I was looking for to celebrate Christmas
may well be Olivo 96.
Thanks everyone for the feedback.
