Contino Vina del Olivo
Contino Vina del Olivo
Ver mensaje de RayQIs this wine ’worth’ the price ?
It is so much more expensive than the remainder of the CVNE range.
is it modern in style ?
Thanks for any advice.........thinking of my Christmas present ;-)
Re: Contino Vina del Olivo
Ver mensaje de RayQI think they voted it the best Spanish wine (full stop!) a while back. The 2001, I believe. So maybe not so expensive after all?
Contino Viña del Olivo
Ver mensaje de RayQViña del Olivo is one of the best wines made in Spain and probably the best priced (QPR) of all of the top Spanish wines…. That’s my sincere opinion so... Take it!!!
Re: Contino Viña del Olivo
Ver mensaje de Paco HigónThanks Paco And Suiko for your help.
Agree with them
Its a modern style wine but trying always to keep the fruit above the oak, even if I use 100% new French(70)American(20)Hungarian(10)Oak, FML included on them.
Best vintages are 1996,2000,2001,2004,2005,2007 ( since 1995)
Best

PS DO not hesitate to answer more questions about that wine

Thanks Jesús, I assume you are the winemaker ?
I’m able to lay my hands on the 96 and 01
so could you suggest drinking windows and decant times ?
Or do I need to be patient ??
gracias todos
Re: Contino Vina del Olivo
Ver mensaje de RayQFirs you must to know that Contino is one of my favorites wines. But 2001 was the best Tempranillo arround the World.
Is , as Paco ses, one of the best wines in Spain, be sure.

Ver mensaje de RayQRay:
As stated by others, Contino’s Viña del Olivo is one of the top wines from Rioja.
The 2001 is drinking very well now and it has a lot of future ahead. Half hour of decanting should be sufficient to show its beauty.
The 1996 is also drinking very well and with future ahead. I would not decant it and enjoy it at a leisurely pace with great food and company.
