The "us" Connection
The "us" Connection
Ver mensaje de WaltZalenskiHelio San Miguel, the New York correspondent of Club de Gourmets, has brought to my attention something that I should have realized but never noticed: A trend has developed in naming expensive special cuvees with often fake Latinate words ending with the letters ’us.’ He cited Pingus, Terreus, Janus, Aurus, Emeritus, and Erasmus. I can also think of Ferratus and Malleolus. Can you think of any others?
Re: The "us" Connection
Ver mensaje de WaltZalenskiYes, Gaudium and there are some others that I´m not sure if it´s really latin or just sounds like it (malleolus, pittacum, tilenus..)

Re: The "us" Connection
Ver mensaje de litoThey seem to have “latin” names but most of them just look like… by ending in ’us’, ’um’ or similar….
Cheers!
My to cents…. Tempus Vivendi, Domus Pensi,….
Re: The "us" Connection
Ver mensaje de Paco HigónGood additions! But I still suspect we are missing a few more.
Beleive it or not, I will be participating in a blind tasting of 12 ";us"; wines - a rather strange theme but a good excuse to drink some of these better wines.
