It’s cooold outside... Red wine c’il vous plait!

second day in a week with snow (and snowing) in Madrid. It’s soooo cold outside, barely 3ºC. Definitively it’s time for red wine today. Furthermore, ";cocido madrileño"; for lunch, a sort of traditional dish from Madrid, I think it can be translated as chickpea stew.
I was thinking about Dominio de Tares Cepas Viejas 2003 (btw, I’ve never tasted before). What should I do? Should I pour a glass an hour before to allow it breath or drink as I uncork it?

Have you tried Mestizaje ? also very enjoyable for the price.

Ver mensaje de rayolAnd nop, I don’t have tasted Mestizaje. I’m a very quiet (like this side ;) taster... Usually not more than a wine pro week, so I can’t taste aaaall the new wines that raise here and there. Anyhow I try it.
Funny situation. You asking to me about spanish wines and I’m just takin’ a look on wines outside Spain ;)))

Ver mensaje de josePlease do try wines from outside Spain. I only suggested Mestizaje because I have it stored in my memory alongside Cepas Viejas as two great wines at fair prices.
15 years ago when I first visited Spain I couldn’t even find a non Spanish wine. I know things have improved considerably. Where do you buy your non - Spanish wines ? Lavinia ?
I find Lavinia good for French wines but the rest of the world section is expensive.
Good luck with your voyage of discovery ! and one good wine a week is better than 4 bottles of plonk !

I do live in Madrid, so mainly I bought foreigners wines in Lavinia. Anyhow, there’re a couple of stores where you cand find some others. Vinotecas Cyrano (they’ve two stores in Madrid) and Enotecas Barolo. Even you can find really nice wines in Cuenllas (another delicatessen store and restaurant in Madrid)!
I’d the problem of moving (3 houses in less than a year!) so getting wines on-line has been more than issue for me in the last months :-(
Nevertheless Pecados Originales (www.pecadosoriginalesvinos.com) and Vila Viniteca have really nice and yummi wines to be ordered.
