Another fine result for the skillful and brave footballers from Greece. Would any of my Spanish wine friends care to comment?
Well Greece certainly upsetting some apple carts !!
But will it be Port or Cava on Sunday night ??
Spain have a good team but don’t look like scoring many goals. But Portugal aren’t palying at all well. Think Spain will put the Portuguese out. I’m looking forward to it already.
Then I’m afraid we shall eliminate Spain:-(
I hope it’s Port, as I have a few bottles I can celebrate with. ;>)
I am looking forward to tonight’s game - England v Switzerland. England MUST WIN!
Of course England will win! I’m sceptical about their chances in the tournament, but this is an easy game.
Our Spanish forum friends from Barcelona (Grupo BCN) made a double blind tasting of Greek wines (2 whites and 4 red) last Thursday. The wines were:
1-Evharis Estate Ilarós 2003 (70% Savvatiano, 30% Rhoditis).
2-Skouras Cuvée Prestige Blanco 2003 (Rhoditis, Moschofilero).
3-Skouras Cuvée Prestige Tinto 2003 (Agiorgitiko, Cabernet Sauvignon).
4-Boutari Nemea 2000 (Agiorgitiko), 12 months in French oak.
5-Tsantali PyN 2000 (Xinomavro, Stavroto, Krassato), 6 months in French oak.
6-Mercouri Estate Domaine Mercouri 2000 (Refosco, Mavrodaphne), 12 months in French oak.
They seem to have enjoyed these wines which only cost 38,75 euros for the six wines (an average of 6,46 euros per bottle)!

Nicos, do you know some of these wines?
