Amontillado

Amber in colour, clean, bright, a multitude of long fat legs like 'cathedral windows'.

Initially a little strange on the nose, a generoso for sure with a big dollop of sweetness, dried apricots and grapes, some toasted hazlenuts, but with the  pungency and salty and iodine notes underlying. Has the feel of a 'pale cream' style wine.

In the mouth it is the sweet notes which initially predominate. There was a nice underlying pungent note and a long finish.

*Re-tasted three days later after a period in the fridge. A different wine. Now the saltiness and iodine together with the nuts had overtaken the sweetness. Much drier and far more intense in the mouth, a marked increase in depth and much longer finish.
