Tradition Gain News Respect!!!
Tradition Gain News Respect!!!
Sorry, too many time without writing in this quiet side of Verema. I'm back just to let you know about this interesting text from Eric Asimov in the New York Times.... Hope you will enjoy it and sorry if there is another post about this....

Re: Tradition Gain News Respect!!!
Ver mensaje de Paco HigónNice article about the hyper-hyped Rioja... but many times without bearing in mind the concept of tradition of a bunch of wineries overthere.
Regards,
Jose
Re: Tradition Gain News Respect!!!
Ver mensaje de joseTradition respect is something quite scarce.... Lopez de Heredia was an exception... some cellars in Jerez are others... but the old way of making wines is near to disappear
A real pitty for next wine drinkers generation, but we...
Ver mensaje de Paco HigónAs current winelovers are part of this shocking situation :-(
Regards,
Jose
Re: Tradition Gain News Respect!!!
Ver mensaje de Paco HigónExactly. I enjoyed the article but thought he completely failed to prove his point that
LdH was somehow leading the way and others were now following.
I see absolutely no evidence for this at all either in Spain or abroad.
My own tastes have changed somewhat as I now appreciate/like the old style more than previously.
I like the 'oak/fruit bombs' as well (sorry Jose!) but like to jump between the styles depending on mood. I wish there was more of a selection though.
Re: Tradition Gain News Respect!!!
Ver mensaje de RayQWell, in fact both modern and classic wines are going to coexist -hopefully- in peace. But because of their scarcity classic Rioja wines have -at least for me- and extra score...
Cheers
Re: Tradition Gain News Respect!!!
Ver mensaje de Paco HigónThe endangered species deserves the extra score!
I'd like to see more bodegas produce both traditional and modern cuvees.
A little like CVNE/Contino.
Do you know of any others?
Re: Tradition Gain News Respect!!!
Ver mensaje de RayQMaybe Murrieta with Ygay or Rioja Alta with Gran Reserva 890 or the Gran Reserva of Rioja Santiago... but anyway the only 100% really classic is Lopez de Heredia.....
