Wineries near Madrid
Wineries near Madrid
Planning to spend a day or two in Madrid at the end of this month.
Any tips for a bodega to visit within striking distance of Madrid?
Are there ones where you can go buy some wine and have a picnic?
Re: Wineries near Madrid
Ver mensaje de RayQI'd go have my picnic up under the pines in the Sierra de Guadarrama personally, Ray!
Re: Wineries near Madrid
Ver mensaje de RayQHmmm... you can take the Cercanías train to Cercedilla, and then either walk from there or take the baby train up towards Navacerrada. I've had a couple of nice picnics up there in summer.
Sorry I can't help on the wineries, but I reckon they'd be a bit hot for a picnic anyway, unless it was a nocturnal one!
Re: Wineries near Madrid
Ver mensaje de RayQThere are some, but haven't visited them, so I can't recommend any. Powerful, highly alcoholic wines...

As Mark says, "La Sierra" is easily accessible by train to Cercedilla.

Ver mensaje de OlafThanks Olaf.
Are you enjoying Germany? I assume your riesling education
is at the 'doctorate' level by now !!
Re: Wineries near Madrid
Ver mensaje de RayQVisiting next week Mosel to be doctorated at the Bernkasteler Doctor vineyard, hehehe. Yes, so far, enjoying rislingland.
Re: Wineries near Madrid
Ver mensaje de OlafI know it's too late, but Jimenez-Landi might be a possibility, Ray. They make some interesting stuff - enjoyed their Syrah at the Sampler and a very unusual and serious Garnacha at Fernando Angulo's great enoteca in Ronda.
