Scoring System on Verema
Scoring System on Verema
Ver mensaje de RayQLooking at some reviews on this site I have
been wondering about a conversion method
from the Verema 10pt to the widely used 100pt system.
A simple multiplication doesn’t seem to work.
There’s hardly ever a 9.f5 or example whereas many of us using the
100pt scale would rave very good wines as a 95pt.
And likewise many highly rated wines receive an 8.2 here whereas 82pts
would hardly excite many used to the other scale.
I’m not saying any system is better than the other but is there a
way to compare ?
That’s an old old story ;-)

Re: Scoring System on Verema
Ver mensaje de RayQInteresting..... Looking back over my old notes I used a 10 point system for years but now I prefer 100 because in a vertical tasting or one such as the recent Rueda session with 80 -100 wines to taste it does permit a bit of graduation. Mind you I start at 0 and one or two wines tasted in the past ( no name, no packdrill ) wouldn’t score 50!

Ver mensaje de rikiwigleyPersonally I prefer the Verema system where an 8.2, for example, is a very good wine, whereas on the 100 point scale it’s very average. It seems with the 100 point scale almost anything you drink, unless it’s pretty expensive, is in the upper 80s.
Re: Scoring System on Verema
Ver mensaje de suikoI agree with you… however as this “side” was planned for English we decided to put the most common scale in English speaking wine web sites….
