2001 vintage- any suggestions
Re: 2001 vintage- any suggestions
Ver mensaje de Paco HigónPaco,
many thanks for the welcome and the Information.
I have tried RODA’s Cirsion ";a LITTLE expensive"; !!!!
It was at a RODA tasting in London and what a wine for a cosecha !!
Too pricey for me though.
I do not know about the Jaros you speak of...I’ve heard of the others.
saludo

Ver mensaje de Juan SuchThanks Juan,
many of these are new to me so I will seek them out.
Welcome to the forum!
Ver mensaje de rayolIf Cirsion is too pricey for you then you should look at Remírez de Ganuza Trasnocho 2001, it’s impressive you can find it between 48 to 58€.
Another interesting wine it’s Contino 2001.
Hope it helps,
Cheers,

Trasnocho ?
Ver mensaje de THuRStoNThanks for the welcome,
the trasnocho ..how does it differ from Remirez de Ganuza ?
is it a single vineyard bottling ?
how do you rate the palacios remondo wines ?
cheers
Re: Trasnocho ?
Ver mensaje de rayolSorry I can contrast it clearly with Herencia Remondo because I’ve only tasted it once, Herencia Remondo’s Dos Viñedos.
Ganuza’s Trasnocho 2001 it’s still a child, will develop in bottle for 10 to 15 years. It’s got an fruity, intense but complex, and subtle nose.
Although there are still some woody notes to be integrated, this wine has gone out from the cellar too early (on purpose) so you should keep it for a few years.
It’s a full bodied wine with a long finish, and lots of black fruit.
Here you have a tasting note (it’s in spanish), but this wine got a 9,1 out of 10: https://www.verema.com/comunidad/vinoscatados/vino.asp?vino=4826
2001 was an exceptional vintage in La Rioja. It looks like I’m trying to sell the wine but it really impressed me. I’ve tasted it against a Cirsion 2001 and it didn’t fall behind!
If you follow the link you can obtain more information about Trasnocho.
