This is my third time I’ve tried this wine, and I do not understand

This is my third time I’ve tried this wine, and I do not understand how it was named El Mundo’s wine of the year.

This sample has been opened for 2+ hours. The nose is subdued, mostly oak and alcohol with only a shadow of fruit and lead pencil. Notwithstanting obvious visual signs of concentration, there is onlly limited fruit in the mouth, and the finish features nice mineral elements, some pepper and very hard tannins. The alcohol is really quite prevalent throughout.
