This premium Chardonnay was barrel fermented and spent 6 months in a mixture of French and American oak. The back label showed that the grapes were “hand picked” and given the “whole cluster press” treatment. Weighing in at 14% alcohol, the optic was a slightly dull lemon. A hint of lime and strong smells of oak but not much else. With air some blunt overripe chardonnay appeared. Sweet and simple tropical fruit of some description, a dash of acidity and a short finish. With air the alcohol is more present on the palate. This wine is falling apart and I did not even finish my first glass.
