Poured straight from the bottle, this basic cuvee of Amarone showed 14.5% on the label. Almost opaque dull strawberry red. A hint of VA on the nose but mostly dry cherries, marzipan and some earthiness. Powerful yet silky mouthfeel of dry red fruits, noticeable thread of acidity that stays until it leaves the palate feeling refreshed. A slight drying of the inside of my cheeks indicate to me that this wine still has years to go until it is fully mature. I am more than happy to drink it now, although a bottle I drunk several weeks ago was marginally better.
