Owned by Vincent Rochette, this Domaine owns two parcels of land and have vines that were planted in 1901. This is their top cuvee and the label showed 13.5% alcohol. Double decanted 30 minutes ahead of time, this wine was opaque purple. A nose of rich morello cherry and marzipan greeted my nostrils, and I am sure there was a very faint hint of oak. Semi-intense to start with, the ripe tannins gradually dry the palate the slightly dilute mid palate carries to a decent if uninspiring finish. This wine was purchased on release, stored at 55F. I am not sure if it is closed at present, but these CdR usually drink well in the first few years of their life. Truth be told, I was disappointed with this wine as I expected more length, body and complexity.
