Poured straight from the bottle, light sediment and the label shows an alcohol level of 14%. Deep cherry red with a light rose rim. An earthy nose with cherry, herb and a touch of marzipan. The mouthfeel is not very expressive to start with and the acidity is vibrant with some drying tannins. With 15 minutes of air, the tannins soften and this becomes a pleasant wine. The tannic structure has softened noticeably since the last bottle I drank several months ago and this wine is entering its drinking window. It is not a fruity wine by any stretch of the imagination, more a rustic and hearty red to quaff. 85/100.
