The color of this one is intense purple. The nose is a bit closed for the first 90 minutes or so and then unfolds with notes of mature fruit and toasted oak. It has a fleshy, elegant mouthfeel. The wood runs slightly ahead of the fruit in certain respects but this seems a well made wine and I think it will come into line nicely in just a couple of years. It has quite a distinct personality and admirable precision for a Rioja with a midrange price of about $30-35 US.
