In good years, Roger Sabon makes four red cuvees of Chateauneuf du Pape. In ascending order of quality, they are Les Olivets, Cuvee Reserve, Cuvee Prestige and the tiny production of the Secret du Sabon. The differences in the cuvees include the age of the wines and the blend of the different grape varieties.

Decanted one hour in advance, the dark cherry red optic led to a wild herb and fresh cherry nose with a dash of rustic earthiness thrown in. Ripe tannins are not obtrusive but present, and a couple of waves of red fruits lead to a good finish. Young, definitely drinkable now with aeration.
