Roy had kindly agreed to bring this Port along. Double decanted about ten hours in advance, it was a very dark purple. The enticing nose had dark chocolate, ripe prunes and raisins. The first sip and subsequent ones showed the class of this great Port. Velvet mouthfeel, it possessed the hallmarks of a great Port. Balance, ripe dates, a hint of freshly ground coffee and a very long length. To me it tasted like a hypothetical blend of the 1970 and 1985 Fonseca. Still young but with a long life ahead of it, this is what top notch Port is all about.
