Dark cherry red, I found the nose to be animalistic, though some may say bretty, but I liked it. Also a touch of cooked aubergine (US translation = eggplant). Smooth mouthfeel and there is still a tight core of ripe tannins with clean acidity and a long finish. An excellent wine, but after 30 minutes this started to implode. It had been decanted prior to the dinner.
