We were told that this wine had an alcoholic strength of only 9.6%. Deep gold with some pale green at the rim, this is clearly the darkest wine so far in the line-up. The nose immediately reminded me of cooked asparagus, with green plums and a little white flower as well. After about 10 minutes in the glass, some marmalade also showed up. There are complex layers of sweetness, with butterscotch, and the citrus/acidity takes time to overcome the sweetness. Bone dry finish after 30+ seconds, and I can’t believe that this wine is 80 years old!
