Changing everything for no change at all?
Changing everything for no change at all?
(NYT)
"Today, V. Dalmau Cebrián-Sagarriga, who took over the estate when his father died in 1996, is on a campaign to update his wines stylistically. "We refused to change the identity," he said. "But we added more fruit to the ...wine, we release the wines sooner, we use newer oak and we leave the wine in oak less time."
Sooo... what's the identity they refuse to change :-????????

Jose

Ver mensaje de joseBet they change the price as well....
Re: Changing everything for no change at all?
Ver mensaje de joseIn most of the "old" wineries there is a slight (or not that slight) change towards "modernisation"... is quite difficult in this very globalised world resist to temptation.... Add another extra point to Lopez de Heredia score ;-)
I wouldn't bet my hand for sure! ;)
Ver mensaje de RayQAs usual, every little nudge seems to need a ROI in the next quarter.. :-?
cheers,
Jose
Re: Changing everything for no change at all?
Ver mensaje de Paco HigónThe crux of the matter is how far or maybe what kind of items are involved in the mentioned modernisation. Not everything new is bad, but just the mere fact of be new doesn't convert it in something good either.
Cheers,
Jose
Re: Changing everything for no change at all?
Ver mensaje de joseYep, I completely agree.... however some of the changes, especially those who imply a change of "style" are in fact producing a "blurring" process in the personality of the wine of some formerly well characterised wine producing areas...
Cheers!
