Just five years ago, it would have been hard to believe that "Unoaked" could be a major selling point for a Chardonnay. But how things change!!! These days, I see bottles from California, Australia, New Zealand, and now Spain, bearing that precise rubric on the label. And, of course, I’m happy... This white from Monjardín is showing very nicely right now. Aromas of grapefruit, Key Lime and Granny Smith apple with a very faint tropical edge and something slightly metallic, but by no means unpleasant. In the mouth it’s bright, fruity and fresh, with very healthy acidity and good length. A nice buy at $8.
