Very dark black cherry with a violet edge. It has a very attractive fruity nose: blackberries, figs. It also has notes of spice and balsam and a touch of alcohol. The mouth is still harsh, with a sweet but chewy tannin. It shows more balance in the mouth than the 99 vintage. It will improve and greatly so.
