No-Go for me!!

Two days in El Saler, with beautiful beaches and situated amongst the rice fields that grow the famous Valencian 'Bomba' rice, my partner and I reserved the last night to enjoy a traditional Valencian Paella - I have to say Pinares14 is NOT the place to go.

We ordered the Valencian Paella, two croquets (€2.30 each!!!) and two beers.
Whilst we ate the croquets, the waitress came and told us that the only paella left was one portion of the traditional Valencian (€12.50) and one of Fideua, a pasta paella (€15!!). The latter, not what we wanted but we agreed.
The large Paella Pan (which you'd expect), never arrived but two, average to small plates came. The Chef/owner came to the edge of the terrace and stood over the diners with his hands on his hips. Obviously not prepared to cook a paella for us as we had ordered.
The Fideua was basically a plate of short pasta pieces with two mussels and one prawn. The Valencian just had a few small snails, no prawns or other seafood and a little chicken. Both dishes were lukewarm.
My partner complained to the waitress that the dishes were not hot. She gave some excuse that we didn't understand. The Fideua was totally inedible. Dry, fishy-tasting cold pasta. The other dish, edible (just) but boring. No seafood that you'd expect or what was described in the menu. Not a Valencian Paella that we've had many times before.
My partner left at least 3 quarters of his food. We asked for the bill. It came and my partner decided as the food was so bad (especially the Fideua), he asked for a reduction. He went inside to discuss the bill. He told the waitress that it was not what we ordered, not what we wanted, cold and basically inedible. After a discussion, the price of the Fideua was reluctantly taken off the bill.

We left hungry and as it was our last night, left El Saler without sampling a 'proper', local Paella.

The food was not only over-priced, but very poor quality. As a Paella chef myself, we would've been better off taking a trip to Lidl and cooking a frozen bag of Paella on our camping stove!

On this occasion (at least), they didn't deliver.

You are right. You were not there. What the 'Anglo Saxons' do is their business. The food we ordered was not what was received (Fiduea). We didn't want to pay for the inedible food that wasn't even ordered and were actually charged more for! I expect to get what I ordered and if that is not available, and I accept another option, I expect it to be of the same standard and not the left-overs scraped from the pan.
By the way, race/ethnicity is irrelevant.

Tienes razón, quizá debí referirme en concreto a los ingleses, en lugar de emplear el término "anglosajón", te pido disculpas.
    Según tus propias palabras:
    a) "The food we ordered was not what was received (Fiduea)".(sic)
Si lo que te ofrecen no es lo que pediste para comer, te levantas y te vas.
    b) "I expect to get what I ordered and if that is not available, and I accept another option, I expect it to be of the same standard and not the left-overs scraped from the pan.".(sic)

    a) "If what they offer you is not what you asked to eat, you get up and leave. "
We agreed to the alternative, expecting it to be of good standard.
    b) "food that you get as an alternative to the request looks like that, I would not eat it, I would leave. Here there is no such custom of requesting reductions in the invoice or refusing to pay, there are other mechanisms such as requesting claim sheets."
It didn't ‘look’ like anything in particular. We had to assume that it was good and had to eat it to understand that it was not... and cold. It was then that we said we were unhappy with the food.
If we had simply got up and walked out, not only would that have been rude/illegal, they probably would've called the police. We had to explain the situation, as is what my partner did. 'Claim Sheets'? Oh please! Maybe if this is the restaurant's usual standard, they should leave a pile by the door - never heard of them. The usual practice in normal society is to calmly discuss the issues with the proprietor, which is what we did. The Chef/owner took the bill from my partner and gave him a new one, minus the cost of the Fiduea. That was his decision.
    c) To respond (for the last time), to your last point:
This was not a planned operation. We took an evening stroll through the village. We have eaten in Ca Pepe and Vicent (the other two adjacent restaurants), previously but not Pinares14. The latter was the only restaurant that at that time had available seating. We thought 'let's try here' - Googleing restaurant reviews was that day, not an option - Actually, now I know why this restaurant was half empty!
As this is my 3rd day as a member of this site, I, in all likeliness will comment on other restaurants and hopefully they will be more positive. I am not one of those 'English' you speak of so disrespectively. I am more than happy to pay for good food and service and have done my entire life. I haven’t come on this site to fight. Just write a review for a particular restaurant where my partner and I just happened to have a disappointing experience. The End.

Ok. Será que aquí tenemos costumbres distintas...
