When the 1989 Beaucastel is on form (like the 1990, although they are different stylistically), it is one of the most pleasurable Chateauneuf du Pape’;s that is currently drinking now. Medium red plum optic, some ripe cherry and a little herb as well. Initially a little tight, with a few minutes swirling it revealed its charming personality of lovely waves of cherry and plum fruits.
