... and I agree in the price business also. I just love Priorat wines, I really really do, but it is becoming more and more like loving traveling first class: a luxury which can be afforded only on exceptional occasions. In this regard, I have quited buying Vall Llach (which I really liked) because its price has skyrocketed, and also Clos Mogador (one of my favourite ones) for the same reason ... I still buy Clos Martinet (which is making a nice job in holding their prices) ... and I still can not resist a good Finca Dofi ... once every 3 years! ... I wished I was rich, the kind of people these wines are directed to ... but I am not (but maybe I can buy some from Torres ;) ... they are great great wines though ...

Though there are some wines which are very expensive and quite frankly over priced ..you could still find some good Priorat wine at the 15-25 euros range. any thing above that range i would rather buy a french or a californian wine.

This is really about one’s taste...

...Because at the same price I’d better have a Priorat or a good Bordeaux (let’s face it, Bourgogne’s are not that affordable!), not a Californian :^D... it’s a kind of joke, please understand it.

Are Priorats overpriced? of course, and so are many others!

    Cheers!

Your right it is about taste..but california wines are definately not a joke..especially if you are talking about cabernets from napa or sonoma, and pinot noirs from the russian river...unfortunately europe does not get a wide range of california wines or american wines for that matter. all we get here are the typical mass poduction wines or the super expensive out of reach wines..ie screaming eagle at about 2000 euros a bottle.

    Good article.
Don’t know much about Priorat wines (the price has put me off in case I end up loving them !)
Can anyone give me some suggestions on wines to try from affordable to expensive.

    cheers
