Summer is here, and everybody seems to have better things to do than wandering through the forum ;-)) Anyway, maybe is time to build a ranking of Spanish white wines… (not ‘generosos nor sparkling). Let’s start…..
1. Mas del Compte blanc 04
2. Jose Pariente Verdejo 05
3. Blanco Nieva Pie Franco 2005
4. Do Ferreiro Cepas Vellas 2004
5. Emilio Rojo 2004
6. Remelluri blanco 2003
7. Milmanda 2004
Blanc Sa Vall Selecció Privada 2005 de Miquel Gelabert, Manacor, Mallorca D.O. Pla i Llevant. (Chardonnay, Prensal Blanc, Muscat)
Certainly Pazo de Senorans Seleccion de Anada belongs on the list, and possibly as number 1.
I would add jarel (moscatel de alejandria) from malaga
I would put Guitián Godello very high on my list. Terras Gauda would be there too, and probably Torres’ Waltraud. And some Rueda - José Pariente’s is very nice.
I don’t like Mas d’en Compte much.
Interesting that this is the highest Parker-rated dry white whine from Spain...
Back to the point, the whites from Clos D’Agon and Clos Nelin may deserve consideration as well. I have not had them side-by-side, but my recollection is that I prefer the former.
