Well, if we just take into account prices in Spain... some of the best values are...
Enrique Mendoza syrah (about 12€)
Beryna (about 6€)
Blanco Nieva Pie Franco (about 7€)
Gómez de Segura Reserva (about 14€)
Viña Fuentenarro Crianza (about 9 €)...
And some other like these!!!!
Of course, Spain still is a source of pretty good wine wines with reasonable prices.... Let’s talk a bit about cavas... First, the dry ones....
Agustí Torello trepat (rosé) (about 10€)
Gramona Imperial Brut Gran Reserva (about 15€)
Colet Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut Traditionnelle (about 8€)
And a sweet cava...
Reymos (moscatel) (about 5€)
Cheers!
Of course the mentioned by Paco, but some others. Cavas from Colet for instance are really nice with a very good QPR. White wines: Blanco Nieva (all of them, Pie Franco, Verdejo... gasp, I don’t have ever tasted the Barrel Fermented) are about 4-8 EUR, Gravonia about 11 EUR, Marques de Alella about 6 EUR. The white wines from Sumarroca are nice and with good QPR. What about wines from Jerez-Xeres-Sherry and Montilla Moriles. Many of them have a really great QPR... Fino, for instance C.B. of Alvear it’s about 4 EUR and IMO the best QPR in the world! but there’re some others for about 5-7 EUR... Tio Pepe, Quinta; Manzanilla... have you ever tasted ’Manzanilla en rama’ or ’pasada’, fab is tooooo short. For instance Manzanilla en rama of Barbadillo great! 7-8 EUR half-bottle and Manzanilla Pasada Pastrana 9-11 EUR per bottle! Red wines, again the mentioned by Paco, but Yllera makes really gooood wines with nice QPR; between 6 and 15 EUR aprox. (and the 6 EUR -the crianza one- is my usual red wine). Another example? Finca La Estacada. Really nice wines for about 4 to 8 EUR.
Regards.
Jose
