Many producing regions do even not have a strict definition of "organic" wine, and the ones that do are not always consistent. Where there is a standard for "organic" labelling (e.g., Catalonia), it is my understanding that many producers that would qualify for an organic certification do not bother to so qualify, as the new label would suggest, falsely, that their production methods were somehow materially altered.
