What does the name Verema mean?
In our region, Valencia (Spain), the word "verema" means harvest. Verema.com is a continuation of the philosophy of an association of wine tasters (Peña La Verema) that have met together every month since 1990. A group of five people from this association, together with the technical collaboration of Emergia.net, launched the Spanish version of this website on 14 November 2000.
What is the name of the company behind the website?
The owner of the site is Verema Interactiva, S.L., a Spanish company created in November 2001, with registered office in Valencia. This company is totally independent from any other in the wine world (wineries, magazines, etc.). It has six individual shareholders and Emergia, the technological shareholder that makes and maintains this portal.
Who is the web site for?
For any enthusiast or professional who wants to read about the wine world (in particular, Spanish wine) or share his or her knowledge and experience with other enthusiasts. Verema.com is a catalyst for thousands of people who share our interest and offers them the chance to get to know each other over the Internet. For this reason, the website contents are mainly in everyday language with only the truly essential technical references and the sense of humour typical of a group of friends tasting wine together.
Who make up the editorial staff and taste the wines that are then signed by Verema.com?
Five people write the content and attend the blind wine tasting organised by Verema.com: Iñaki Blasco, Roberto Campos, José Luis Contreras, Paco Higón and Juan Such. Here is a photo of us all, including Álvaro Cerrada, our Marketing Director.
