Verema’s Close Encounters of the Fifth Kind

The fifth Verema Encounter (V Encuentro Verema) is coming up soon. On January, 27 th will start a long weekend plenty of extraordinary wine experiences. The programme includes a lot of different activities and I am just going to talk about the main ones (you have a “complete” programme –ermm... in Spanish- here

Friday evening we have an incredible vertical tasting: 12 vintages of Alion, from the very first vintage (1991) to the 2002 vintage. Xavier Ausás (oenologist of Vega Sicilia) will talk about “Evolution and trends of Ribera del Duero wines” and after that he will also conduct de vertical tasting.

On Saturday morning, we will hear Miguel Torres (Grupo Torres) talking about “Spanish wines in a globalized environment”. After that we will enjoy four of the best Jean Leon wine vintages. On this morning we’ll also hear Álvaro Palacios, one of the most acclaimed Spanish winemakers, talking about “Recovering of our vine patrimony” while we taste some of his wines from Priorat and Bierzo areas.

In the evening there will be a round table about Champagne A.O.C. The oenologists from Bollinger, Gosset, Laurent Perrier, Pol Roger, Roederer and Salon will explain us their wine projects while we taste some of their best champagnes.

On Friday evening and also the whole Saturday there also will be a mini wine fair with quite a lot interesting wine cellars from all around Spain. This is the provisional list of invited cellars:
