Feria del Campo de Villena and Other News!
This coming weekend sees the Feria del Campo de Villena take place. Villena is a small town inland from Alicante on the road to Font de Figueras. The fair encompasses agricultural enterprise, gastronomy and wine and local businesses.

Release of Casa Don Angel Bobal 2006.
Vera De Estenas, the DO Utiel-Requena based boutique winery have just announced the release of the latest vintage of top wine Casa Don Angel Bobal 2006, a wine which has been rated as `excellent´ by the control board of the DO.
In 2006 the weather was optimal for ripening of the 100+ year old bobal vines which enjoyed good healthy clusters of grapes. They were harvested during the second week of October that year.

Previous vintages have been highly rated ( at around 90 points ) in the Guia Repsol, Vivir el Vino and by Andrés Proensa.
The wine is produced from the vineyards oldest vines on limestone soil which produce no more than 2 kilos per vine but of exceptional quality. The wine is aged for 12 months in new American oak and 6 months in French oak. Dark cherry in colour and with a brick edge, the wine has ripe fruit, spice and toastiness from the barrel on the nose. In the mouth it is complex, meaty, spicy and full bodied with a long lingering finish.
The wine is available from the bodega and specialist wine outlets.
Criadores Artesanos from DO Utiel-Requena Open Their New Facilities.
Bodegas Criadores Artesanos who are well known for their Pasiego wines will open their new facilities tomorrow 23 September when the Minister for Agriculture in Valencia, Maritina Hernandez will cut the first grapes of the harvest accompanied by other local dignitaries. The bodega is based in Sinarcas, one of the most Northerly of the towns in the DO Utiel Requena and has 15 hectares at 900 metres above sea level.
Their wines are sold principally in Valencia but also to Switzerland and Mexico.
