Ist Valencia Cava Fair, 27-29 November 2009.
As if this weekend wasn´t already busy enough PROAVA, ( Promocion Agroalimentaria de Calidad de la Communidad Valencia ) are holding the first Cava fair to showcase Cava from Valencia. Some 16 bodegas producing quality wines in the region will be showing their products in the cloister of the old University building in Calle de la Nave ( otherwise known as la Nau. )
The fair is open to the public and hopes to show Valencia the quality available. It also comes in the run up to Xmas when Cava sales are understandably higher and will undoubtedly have the aim of boosting Valencian Cava sales at the expense of the Catalunian competition!
The fair opens on Friday with a session between 6-10 pm, continues on Saturday with a morning session between 10am -3pm and an evening session between 5-10 pm and ends on Sunday with a morning session between 10.30 am and 2.30pm. Entry a glass and 4 tastings is 5€. Calle De la Nave is right in the centre of Valencia not far from Plaza Ajuntamiento and a short stroll from Mercado Colon for those wishing to combine the two available tastings!
